A North Macon church will change its name.

As of Easter Sunday, Vineville North Baptist Church on Zebulon Road will go by Northway Church of Macon.
On March 1, 90 percent of the congregation approved the name change, said last week's church bulletin.

The church will continue to be a part of the Southern Baptist Church, even though "Baptist" is being dropped from the official name.

"We just want to remove as many barriers as possible to most effectively reach our community for Christ,"
